in case you couldn't understand, the full question is: the angle of elevation of a monument is 53° when measured from a point on the ground 35 m from the base of the monument. find the height of the monument.
i also need to know how to work this question...

You have to use trig ratios. In this case tangent would be the appropriate one to use.
tan 53 = x/35
35 * tand 53 = x
46.44 m = x
Let height = h
tan 53° = h / 35
h = 35 tan 53 °
h = 46.4 m (to 1 decimal place)
The height over the baseline is the tangent of the angle
so Tan53 = height divided by 35
height is 35xtan53=1.327x35=46.4466m
tan 53 deg = m/35
m= 35 x tan 53 = 35*1.327 = 46.45ft
Draw the triangle in standard position and use definition
tan(theta) = y/x.
You know x and theta. . .
plug and chug.
