Senate Republicans today vowed to filibuster a controversial bill supporting the right not to get shot.
G.O.P. leaders lambasted the bill, arguing that the right to go to school, work, or one’s home without fear of being shot was not guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution.
“The Second Amendment makes it very clear,” said Sen. Mike Enzi (R-Wyoming). “The right to bear arms shall not be infringed by a tiny minority’s desire not to be shot.”
But according to the pollster Harland Dorrinson, of OpinionFact Polling, the right not to get shot, while controversial, is beginning to gain traction with the American electorate.
“Like gay marriage, not getting shot is an idea that has taken some getting used to, but people are starting to wrap their brains around it,” he said.

Funny--gun nuts like to quote the 2nd Amendment, but they ALWAYS misquote it. They also completely ignore Supreme Court decisions on gun control.
90% of the American people support increased gun control. That's hardly a tiny minority.
Tiny minority? Kid, think again. There are a lot of Americans against the second amendment. I'm not one of them, but seriously. Instead of belittling their argument, present opposing evidence as to why guns are beneficial to American culture and safety. It shouldn't be hard, because you're supporting the right answer.
No.
"A well-regulated militia being necessary for a free state, THE RIGHT OF THE PEOPLE TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED."
Not hard to figure out. Well...I suppose it is for some people.
the NRA magazine has 3 , 4 , sometimes 5 examples every month of someone defending their home or property with a gun . the 100,000 people shot with a gun every year and the 30,000 who die should not infringe on the rights of felons and the mentally ill from getting their hands on a gun ?
So you mean that a majority DO want to be shot?
On the other hand you mean to say that having a gun actually stops someone from being shot? Didn't work too well for that poor transit cop in Boston.
I don't have a fear of getting shot, I don't own a gun either. I have no problem with other people's rights to own a gun though.
The Founders were some pretty smart wealthy white lawyers. But the 2nd amendment? Really?
I think they were smart enough they wouldn't repeat that mistake.
Agree.
I see your trying to troll, but yes, my rights will not be infringed due to the fears of others.
do you assume you'll get shot because you know you're a criminal on the inside?
