The first few words my professor said to the class changed my life. She (has her PhD, so we call her Dr.) told us that she went to the same community college where we were. She went to vocational school in high school and received her cosmetology degree. She said that she came here as a business student looking to earn a degree so she could open up a salon. In the same class that we are in (Intro to psych) she found a passion for the subject. She then went on to receive her bachelors, masters, and finally PhD. I did the same thing, went to vocational school & received my cosmetology degree. I am currently a business major, interested in opening up my own salon. Yet, I always dreamt of going to an Ivy-League college, and becoming a medical doctor for as long as I can remember. I made some poor choices and well my chances of getting into any college but my community one, were very slim. After hearing that one person, my professor went further with herself it like “lit a fire up my bum”. Throughout the whole semester I was highly motivated, so far my average in the class is a 98%. My final is this Thursday and I want a word to associate with what I experienced this semester. Because of the words of my professor, I was highly driven in this psychology class and my grade reflects that. Is there a psychological term for what I went though?

She is definitely a role model. Clarity is something I am far from now. I went to this community college, just wanting to learn some business. But now my body yearns to complete this, move on to Rutgers, and go to graduate school ad furthermore receive my doctorate in psychology. Is it because my professor did the same thing, or is it because I just want to? I could write a reasearch paper on this!!!
