Rewrite the equation in standard form using integers. Please Help!
there are 3 formula u have to remember
slope(m) formula=>
m=(y2-y1)/(x2-x1)
slope intercept formula=>
x/a + y/b =1
standard form =>
y=mx+c
now see
let A (3,-2) and B(6,2)
u can take any coordinate as x1 y1 and x2 y2
slope=(2-(-2))/(6-3)
=(2+2)/(3)
=4/3
now how to write equation u have given 2 points
take any point
y2-y1 = m(x2-x1)
y-2 = 4/3(x-6)
3(y-2)=4(x-6)
3y-6=4x-24
4x-3y-18=0 <=== answer
u can take this point(3,-2)
y-(-2)=4/3(x-3)
3(y+2)=4(x-3)
3y+6=4x-12
take any point u will get the same answer :D
edit-oh standand form-
4x-3y-18=0
3y=4x-18
y=4/3 x -6
:)
First find slope (subtract y's over subtract x's)
2 - -2 over 6 - 3 = 4/3
Then choose either point (I'll choose (6,2))
y - 2 = 4/3 (x - 6) which is point-slope
Multiply by 3 to cancel fraction (can't have fractions in standard form)
3y - 6 = 4(x - 6)
3y - 6 = 4x - 24 move the y term to be with the x term, and the constants to be on the other side
-3y+24...-3y+24
-------------------------
18 = 4x - 3y
so 4x - 3y = 18
