A block with mass m = 21.4 kg slides down an inclined plane of slope angle 37.2 ° with a constant velocity. It is then projected up the same plane with an initial speed 1.70 m/s. How far up the incline will the block move before coming to rest?

All of the energy that is kinetic at the bottom of the ramp must be transformed into gravitational potential energy (because the block comes to rest).
So:
(1/2)*m*v^2 = mgy
(1/2)*v^2 = gy
(1/2)*(1.7)^2 = 9.8*y
Isolate for y to find:
y = 0.147m
So the ball reaches a height of 0.147m - now simply use the Pythagorean theorem to find the distance along the ramp that this is.
