The answer in the book says 7/3, but Im not sure how to get that.
2√3z + 2 -1 = 5 I'm guessing about ( )
2√(3z+2) -1=5 add 1 to each side
2√(3z+2)=6 divide both sides by 2
√(3z+2)=3 square both sides
3z+2=9 subtract 2 from each side
3z=7 divide both sides by 3
z=7/3
2â3z = 5 -2 + 1
2â3z = 4
z = 4/(2â3)
z = 2/â3
Again, do you mean "â(3z)" or "(â3) z"? If the variable is under the radical, then just like before: 1) get the radical by itself, 2) square both sides to get rid of the radical, 3) now solve for z.
