It’s one of life’s great mysteries isn’t it? Why are we here? I mean, are we the product of some cosmic coincidence, or is there a God watching everything? You know, with a plan for us and stuff. I don’t know, man. But it keeps me up at night.

Dude, it bugs me too. I am a Christian, so I default to Christian theology, but I still think about existential **** constantly. I am fascinated by Plato's Cave (look it up if you're not familiar, it's basically the philosophical core of modern films like The Matrix, The Thirteenth Floor, Dark City...) I sometimes get obsessed with the idea that, because I cannot experience the consciousness of others, I might be the only autonomous mind in an enormous program. A lot of times I'll freak out about how sensory the material world is, and how if I was to lose my senses, it would all disappear. That's why, in order to maintain my sanity, I have to remind myself that Jesus loves me, and that I live in an objective universe that absolutely has a creator (evolution is so, so completely bogus), and that my purpose is to serve and worship him. I know that sounds preachy, but dude...if I don't have that, I have nothing and might as well kill myself because the world would be a meaningless moral vaccuum and a cheap trick played on a species smart enough to believe it has a soul.
The short answer to your question is, we are here for God's pleasure.
Check out the link for a better explanation. It's not a very long article and it explains things is an easy to understand kind of way. I'm sure you will find it interesting.
I do all the time. Do we have a purpose here? or did we just come about by accident? It's disheartening to know that I most likely won't know for sure til I die. If I die and wake up, then we did have a purpose here. If not, Atheism was probably true.
I love all the people adding deep thoughts to quote from a web series of a game where God doesn't exist and where a ton of profanity takes place
I think it's weird that just because God is spirit and can't be seen, that people dismiss Him.
There are so many forces that can't be seen that are miraculous, like the world wide web.
If you ever think of doubting His existence, study prophecy. It will blow your freaking mind and it's what made me a believer. Check out Christ in Prophecy or Bible Prophecy unraveled or Manna Fest or Hal Lindsey Report or Jack Van Impe. 668 prophecies have come true so far. In order to qualify as a prophecy, it has to be completely deemed 100 per cent accurate.
Got my answers, for the most part.
God is Good, and created us for Himself,
because He wanted us with Him.
Edit-- Never seen the game, sorry.
You got here because YOU decided to be here, before you were born.
Your purpose and reason in life, is just exactly this: the one you give it, nothing more and nothing less than that.
What? You expected a Grand Design? Nothing like that I am afraid. God has better things to do, She leaves the rest of the story up to YOU. It's all up to you, one moment at a time, in the great HERE and NOW...every choice, every step, every decision, defines your life. That is your purpose and reason.
Nothing is written in stone. NOTHING!
You make it happen with your choices every minute you are alive. At the end, when you die, your story is complete...then you can look back spiritually, on the whole thing about purpose and reason. There it will be!
I did when I was young, but that was over 30 years ago. I no longer question it.
What? I meant why are we here, in this canyon.
Yeah, me too.
What was all that stuff about God?
