History established the age of 21 based on a persons maturity to make adult decisions. Today’s youth for the most part, are not mature at 21. Exceptions could be made for those in the military, and those over 21 that can pass a test of some kind.

The voting age was lowered to 18 during the Vietnam era. Americans saw the immorality of sending young men to their death when they had no say in the political decisions that sent them there in the first place.
You will never be able to take away an American's right that they already have. Guns will never be confiscated, abortion will never be illegal, and the voting age will never be raised.
These are the political realities that most right wing politicians will never admit to because the fear of those things happening generates a lot of money and a lot of votes.
You would disenfranchise those with the most to gain - or lose - from policies that affect their future.
I remember the 1960s, and 1970s, before the 26th Amendment.
