I'd rather have a very common name. Although I would prefer to have something in-between the two (normal but not super popular), I think having a really unusual/made up name is just a huge hassle and I bet it would get annoying having to tell everyone how to spell and pronounce your name. Not to mention the fact that you probably would have a harder time getting a job with a name like Kyngsley rather than Sarah.
Depends on the name. My daughter has a name that is too common (I didn't name her) but I did give her her middle name... Marial. Both my grandmas were Mary and both my grandpas were Al. She was born 25 years to the date when my dad's dad died/the day before Grandma's birthday. My son, I named Jamison Zander. It was something I saw on an account. He's met a few Jamisons/Jamesons, but not too many.
A common name. Coming from someone with a phuked up stupid name and I hate it. My mother doesn t call any of us by our names and uses nicknames she then tells everyone else to use it to.

Very common name
unique to a point
Common unless the unique one was spelled correctly\decently
Depends on the name. I love a lot of common names. Unique means existing as the only one or as the sole sample which is rarely good.
Depends on what it is. Some common names and some unique names are good, some aren't. In general I'd go for a common name.

Common - especially one with a family history.
A common name unless you mean an alternative spelling. Still, those are a bit weird and cumbersome to people when they grow up.
