We have a basement with 5 window wells. Each has a drain, where it goes I don't know.Twice now I have had the last window overflow flooding an area of my basement. We are trying to snake out each drain.I am sure there is a buildup of leaves, dirt, stone down all of them because we never maintained them.Stupid we were in not knowing they needed to be maintained. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT WOULD HELP A SNAKE GET THROUGH SLUDGE OR WHAT WE CAN DO TO CLEAN EACH PIPE OUT SINCE THEY GO 12FT DOWN AND I GUESS ARE ALL CONNECTED. DON'T REALLY WANT TO CALL A PROFESSIONAL.ANY SUGGESTIONS WE WOULD APPRECIATE!!

my little hand snake is 12 feet long. there's a point on the end, you crank it to make the whole thing turn and the point dig into the clog. You can also put a high pressure nozzle on the end of your garden hose ... lower it into the drain as far as it'll go, then turn water on full blast and see if that'll clear the clog. The usual drain opener products can also be used before either or both of these procedures -- probably in double the recommended quantities since the drain is so wide. PS: dropping the garden hose into one of the drains that works should let you find where the whole thing comes out -- most likely is at or near the street [or at least downhill from the house] -- grampa
PUt hose down there, block off the opening with rags and turn on the water
