Ask somebody who risked it all to come to America and sees it all happening again. We partied and slept and let it happen. Hopefully the idiots will wake up before it takes hold this time around.
It is better for those with personal freedom issues to show up in emergency rooms with no insurance. That way, the hospital will go in the hole treating them. Sooner instead of later, there will be no hospitals to care for any of us, even those with insurance.
It is the government's responsibility to regulate insurance companies but I think that Medicare for All would be a far preferable approach to providing health care coverage for all Americans.
Medicare already covers the oldest and sickest segment of the population. Seniors are the most expensive group as far as medical care is concerned.
Covering other Americans would be the most sensible thing to do. Individuals who wish to use private insurance either as a supplement or as their primary coverage would be free to do so, as they do in the UK.
Because private health insurance is expensive.. Many cannot afford it, and the policies they get often charge high deductibles and co-pays anyway. It may be better than not having insurance, but an unpayable amount is still an unpayable amount, on top of premiums.
This is why health should be a legal right and governed by the people in my opinion. People's wellbeing, productivity, lives, and freedom are intertwined with their health. Nobody should be dying because they're too scared to go to the ER, and nobody's life should be ruined because they did.
look at the death tolls in NY and MA.... both states where government bureaucrats and insurance administrators were given the power to over-rule doctor requests to move elderly COVID patients out of senior homes and into hospitals.... until the Administration rolled back the federal "reforms" that handed them that power....
Government can not compete with private industry. That's why costs have soared. Why regulate insurance to single state? Why can't you buy insurance from Kentucky if it's cheaper than California? And Why would I have to travel to Kentucky to be treated?
No, restrictions have been added to make government more competitive with private.
Even with Obamacare, some 54 Million Americans were left out. No coverage. So, where do they go? The same hospitals that you do. There's Free Clinics, City of Hope, Shriner's & more.
When a socialist comes up with a solution, keep a hand on your wallet & expect a thousands more problems.

That's cool. Just provide a comprehensive public option, and stop underwriting private insurance companies.
Why for profit companies shouldn't be in the business of dictating health care for people.
