Why don’t the Jehovah’s Witnesses practice communal living since it’s cheaper in these end times?
Living in a compound would save a lot of money. And in these end times, having a mortgage payment makes it more difficult to spend enough time serving Jehovah.

Why save money if it's the end times? Spend it like there's no tomorrow, if you think there aren't going to be many tomorrows.
It would make logical sense for them to do that, but I don’t think they’d like effects on public perception. Religious compounds are generally associated with cults and the Jehovah’s Witnesses already have too many characteristics of a cult. If they all lived in compounds, it would be much harder to convince the general public that they are not a cult.
