Could it possible be because I always ask them to recall that Jesus NEVER had a problem correcting people's misunderstandings, yet consider 3 times Jesus clearly identified Himself as fully Jehovah, sharing in His very nature and substance. His enemies understood His words very clearly, yet He never corrected their ‘misunderstanding’…?

When Jesus healed a paralytic man (Matt. 9), He told him, “your sins are forgiven.” Jesus’ enemies also heard Him, and called it blasphemy! Why? Only Jehovah can forgive sins, that is, release the eternal punishment our sins deserve. Notice! Jesus did not correct their “misunderstanding”. Jesus’ enemies clearly understood His claim to be the sin-forgiving, miracle-working Son of Jehovah. Do you?

Another time, Jesus clearly made Himself equal with Jehovah the Father, in John 5:17-18. Again, did His enemies misunderstand His words? No! Did Jesus even attempt to correct their misunderstanding? Not at all!

One more…actually, there are several more…Jesus told His enemies, those who sought to kill Him, “Destroy this temple and in 3 days I will raise it up.” John explains for us, “He spoke of the temple of His body.” Only Jehovah can raise the dead and Jesus said He would raise Himself from the dead ~ something no other religious leader, teacher or prophet ever did! Read John 2:19-21.

Here’s a bonus for you. Jesus presents the question to all who are His enemies: “ … do you say of Him, whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, 'You are blaspheming,' because I said, 'I am the Son of Jehovah'? John 10:36

He can give you abundant life now and eternal life to come if you confess your sins to Him, turn from them and ask His forgiveness, trusting that He took the punishment your sins deserved on His cross.
