I'll answer with another question. Why would there be a why? Things are not always the result of an intention. We don't even know whether there is a why or not, so giving an answer to your why would be misguided at best, dishonest otherwise.

It really is that simple. We are all on a pilgrimage to our everlasting destination, which is to be forever present in infinite joy and love with God, or in damnation apart from Him.
