You feel so drained mentally and physically. You can put in a fake smile but inside you’re dying to climb under the covers of your duvet and hide away from the world. Your brain is taken up with all these negative thoughts and feelings and feelings of despair and hopelessness. There really is no need or want to socialise at a time when you’re so vulnerable
Because they know they'll hurt them. They can't even control their thoughts and feelings they don't want to unintentionally hurt others. Whether it be physical or verbal or do weird things.
It's worst then being drunk, you just can't control. Even in the room, you may have angry thoughts and you just feel yourself bursting in anger. Next moment you imagine something so good that you wipe your tears and laugh so happily. Next moment you thought of smtg crazy, next sad, next all whatever the mind can think of it goes on and on and on. When someone call them they cannot hear and cannot feel. They're lost in their land. Laughing, sighing, screaming, crying. Finally when all energy drain out to the last drop, that person sleeps. When someone wakes this person up, this person brain starts going on and on negatively even though to the breaking point but cannot sleep hence very dark circles. Totally no time for people around.
Not everyone isolate themselves because they are depressed, there could be other reasons like perhaps their friends just don't interest them enough or they might just prefer quiet surroundings to loud, chaotic crowds. All behaviors have lots of different reasons. So, you cannot automatically judge the reason why someone behaves a certain way.
A shrink once told me that when you're depressed you are depressing something. Stuffing some feeling, or feelings, down to avoid dealing with them. So, if that's true, (and everything else the guy ever told me has turned out true) then it makes sense. If you socialize with friends, your feelings come up - so, if you're trying to avoid feelings, you have to avoid human contact. It's not a good solution, but we do it, and it makes sense then that you'd have to isolate yourself.
Mostly because they're thinking of suicide. Aside from that, they are thinking too much about what might happen when they meet their friends. They will think too much about the future.
