Why do people get mad at me when I don’t automatically trust them?
I think maybe because they think they've earned my trust and therefore are entitled to it but I get this often from people, even those who have definitely violated my trust in huge ways and even from people I don't know very well. I think perhaps it's some sort of common narcissistic trait where people feel that I'm being critical about their integrity, but it is very difficult for me to trust as my basic trust was tampered with as a child and throughout my adulthood too by my own Mother who is a master of deception and has many narcissistic traits. What do you think?

Well, you shouldn't care if you don't feel that they are worthy of your trust. I don't trust most of my friends, or any of them really. But remember that you can always trust certain people for certain things and you can't trust any one person for everything. If they get mad at you for you not trusting them, then they obviously are insincere, especially if they have violated your trust before.
i have the same problem. just know you aren't alone. i get mad when i am told i have to trust or else something is wrong with me. i feel these people want to control you and not respect your wishes. i say, it is something that a good person will understand if they really care for you.
My opinion is this " Trust is to be earned, not just expected". Hope that helps...
