Couldn't tell you. I returned to school in 2007 to finish my degree (started in 1989) and graduated on December 20, 2008. But some of it has to do with having families, and the responsibilities of having people that depend on you. Others may be intimidated with returning to an atmosphere that is primarily inhabited by people we still consider to be "kids" and wondering if we are up to the challenge. But sometimes our age may prove to be a benefit in the adjustment, when I left Ball State in 1991 I was on academic probation (my fault) and my last two semesters in 2008 I made the deans list. Those years of maturing helped me a lot.

I really don't know, other than inertia (they have jobs and families and don't want to add something on to their plate).
Me: I'm 55 and am going back to college to do something I've always wanted to do!
