the frist one has absolute value, which makes everything in them positive. so instead of |12-5x|, it'd change to 12+5x= -8
now you want to get the constants, the numbers WITHOUT variables onto one side of the equation. so you move over the 12. so now it would be 5x=4, because -8+12 is 4.
now you divide 5x AND 4 by 5, so x=4/5.
the second one, you need to find a common factor. in this one, the common factor is 3 so it becomes
3(x+2y=5)
now you want to move the x over, so it changes to 3(2y=5-x) then you divide it by 2, and the final answer is 3(y=5/2-x/2)
thats no longer achieveable in my u . s . y dont u attempt texting from information superhighway ? and u could love attempt a call in ur cellular settings as huge form sending (thats what it says in nokia) and that's a community based function... presented that ur community(service service helps this function) then purely turn the huge form sending decision off. and stale u pass.

maybe I got confused reading the other answers, or just do not know what you mean (happens a lot on here) but
first one has no solution because the left side is always (technically, acts like) a positive,
and the right side is a negative number
#2 - sounds like you are wanting the formula to equate to a single x, so
3x + 6y - 6y = 15 - 6y
(3x)/3 = (15-6y)/3
x = 5 - 2y
is the appropriate expression (but you cannot numerically solve because it has an infinite number of solutions)
| 12-5x|=-8. 12 - -8 = 20. 20/5 = 4. x= 4.
3x + 6y = 15. 3x = 3(3) = 9. 15-9 is 6. 6/6y= 1.
Problem 1: x= .8
Problem 2: x= 3, y=1
