(BBC) Egypt's 82-year-old President Hosni Mubarak was in power for almost 30 years until he was swept from power in a wave of mass protests. Few expected that the little-known vice-president who was elevated to the presidency in the wake of Anwar Sadat's 1981 assassination would hold on to the country's top job for so long.
