Who should I ask for a recommendation for grad school when I’ve been at my job for less than a year?

I’m currently a teacher, and I graduated in May. I accepted my job in June and started in August. We began the year virtual, and then moved to hybrid in November. Now after Christmas, we are all virtual and working from home. Because COVID, my admin haven’t been able to truly observe me in the classroom, physically teaching. I also haven’t had the opportunity to get to know anyone at my job. I’m truly miserable and to prevent early burnout, I decided to apply to grad school.

As for my recommendation, should I ask my boss or a college professor. I have a professor who was my academic advisor all four years, my student teaching supervisor all four years (and observed my lessons and watched me interact with students and be in the classroom), and I even went on a study abroad trip with her that was education a based. This professor knows -me-, and I don’t feel like anyone at my job could speak on my behalf like my former professor could.

I haven’t told my job I don’t plan to come back yet, and I will if I ask for a recommendation letter from work. I’ve spoken with my principal three times since the interview, so I don’t think she could write a recommendation that would truly set me aside from other applicants, which is obviously what I want.

I’m the only teacher in my family, so I don’t know who else to ask. Thank you!!!
