I have no idea how the guy forgives Holly. Is it worth to love a person who has cheated on you? Can you forgive a material girl who stained the name of love for the sake of money?
Update:Unhappy with yahoo: Mistake? haha Can you call it a mistake? To betray your beloved? Not one time, but many times, sleeping with random guys! This is not considered as “lapse” but being slut or sth like this. The one who sells her body to earn money is called a WHORE! So what about the movie Original Sin? Can you consider the same thing as a MISTAKE? You know, when I watched the movie, I cried for 3 hours or something, I was sooooooo devastated for Tainted Love ;-(

Never & ever.
Did you miss that the guy is also "peddling" love for $$??? The older woman (Patricia Neal) who is paying his rent and expenses? BOTH the main characters trade affection for cash...and the point is that they both eventually realize this.
Also watch "Sunset Boulevard" if you want to see a movie about what happens when the realization occurs too late.
Breakfast at Tiffany's has a HAPPY ending.....Sunset Boulevard, which essentially puts forward the same scenario...doesn't end so well...the hero of the film does finally decide that he would rather have "love" than peddle affection for $$....unfortunately, for him, the story doesn't end with him in a taxi with the girl he loves...
As far as your other question....I think Wayne Dyer has the best attitude....people are who they are...and, like you, they make mistakes... You want to be forgiven and hope that those who truly love you will balance your good things against your "lapse"...and continue to love you. Is it LOVE that desires to punish someone over and over and over for a lapse??....or is it some other emotion entirely?
If love is what a mother feels....loving a person...and separating mistakes from substance....then what is it when someone responds to a mistake in another way??
Hmmm.......
