I do all our vacation planning. For a land vacation, I research hotels, air, rental cars, restaurants, local attractions, and maps. It takes a lot of effort. When we get there, It's almost like working.
With a cruise, I have to research itineraries and excursions, pre-cruise hotel, and that's about it. Once I set foot not he cruise, I don't have much to worry about. I find cruising to be very care-free, and I love waking up someplace new every morning It isn't for everyone, but we really like it. We also do land vacations, and are actually going on one in two weeks. My car isn't as nice as my peers, and my house not as large, but I can also afford to go on fantastic vacations, 2 if not 3 times a year. Travel is my priority.
A vacation cruise has so much to offer both on the ship and off. There are many different types of cruises, including but not limited to cruises for families, couples, seniors, singles and more.
Looking over the metal life rectangles. Counting the holes in them & calculating how long they will float. Standing on the upper foredeck. & seeing how close we come to running over smaller craft. Starting my vehicle on deck it the middle of the day & having A.C. Listening for strange sounds from the engine room. Keeping a eye & nose out for smoke or other strange odors. Avoiding most of the food on the second day into the cruise. Do to lack of refrigeration on most supper fairy's. Getting in some card games. To pass time. Looking at all the small island ports we stop at. Cargo unloaded & loaded on ship. If in port overnight. Going out & hitting a few of the local places on the sea front. Eating local food. Bringing some back on ship. Having a cabin with air so no need to sleep in my vehicle. Hoping it works the entire cruse. So much to do on cruses. Also the ships are known to sink 3 or 4 times a year. So have a may west with you.

Being catered to by the ship's staff.
I've never been on a cruise.
Just a week away from the everyday
Sailing more than 100 miles from shore where nobody can bother me.
Getting on the ship and looking around for the first time. The anticipation is wonderful.
