Would you panic and wonder how on earth you are going to pay it? Or would you just relax and charge it all to the tax payer?
As a Tory MPs bill for heating oil and electricity rose to that amount for his estate, it was all claimed on his expenses. In fact over 300 MPs have claimed for their gas and electric bills to heat their second homes. Yet more proof we are all in it together?

That's disgraceful, I wish you wouldn't, old people are going to die this winter because they'll be too afraid to turn the heating on or up for fear of a big bill, its enough to make your blood boil.
There's no wonder they can't be bothered to get to grips with the power companies, no wonder.
Like it or lump it, here's an home truth for you, anybody who votes for any sitting MP at the next general election is an idiot, I'm not joking they're an idiot.
If they though, these MPs and I mean all of em, Tory, Labour, Lib-Dems, all of em, that their cushy little number was in danger, they'd tackle the power companies so fast the power companies feet wouldn't touch the ground, they wouldn't hesitate.
So go on vote for em if you must, but don't forget your deserve everything you get.
It's all relative to the size of property and any associated buildings you may have around them but what is wrong is that the four named at the top of the list given in the mirror must, as Bridget has said, have flipped their homes. No MP should be allowed to claim for heating more than a 3 bedroomed semi which is what most of their constituents live in. That would be determined by an outside panel and actually the whole expenses office should be removed from Westminster and given to a trusted group of people to rubber stamp - - - now, the question is where would we look to find them?
If Hugh Bayley, Labour, York wishes to burn his own money using gas logs then by all means he should be encouraged to do so - the least efficient, the most expensive gas fire on the market. I know it isn't a punctuation mistake as in gas, logs simply because his two homes are both in smoke free zones.
Turn the gas meter round for a start so it didn't register! Seriously, MP's should not be allowed second homes and stay in a hotel with a sensible tariff as well. These people earn enough to pay their own damn bills anyway so why is the public purse subsidising them.
It was £5800 a year cos there was no thought to switch things off when the house was uninhabited, heating was probably burning 24hrs a day in winter & the lights left on to deter would be burglars.
It should be a criminal offence to be reckless with the public purse
That seems an awful lot unless you have a very large house as mine is £3000 for 2 houses. You may have a defective meter or an enormous volume of electrical equipment or live in an old draughty house
which is badly insulated
Hmm - I suspect the TOKEN people's 'representative; - Nadhim Zahawi - will soon be DISPLACED - just as the ILL-placed Diane Abbot has recently been pushed off the Opposition's Front Benches.
Give some an INCH and they'll steal a MILE - as the old saying goes.
As the Baronesses Udin and Scotland swiftly proved - didn't they ?

Disgraceful, but at the same time a family of seven from somalia can be taken from the airport to a large house and have everything paid for them.Food ,heating ,sky ,general living expenses etc.And there are more than 300 of them.We should really think about what makes us angry.
Politicians always do the opposite of what they say, you should have known `We are all in it together` meant `Stuff you I am going to milk you dry`
Politicians of all UK parties are working to the same `Friends of Israel` agenda, they represent Mr.Cohen of Tel Aviv and not Mr.Smith of Shoreditch.
We have been silently invaded and now we are being raped.
It is no good trying to vote them out, you`ll just get more of the same.
As if anyone actually counts the votes anyway.
Very Hot I would imagine, that is a disgrace that they get all those expenses paid on their second homes, would make me sick & all the old people who are probably freezing on the winter nights..
£5,800 WHAT !!!
