Any religion can claim whatever it wants to . It is our job as Christians to discern true religion from false religion. The Word of God , the Bible, provides the basis for our decision. We as Christians need to correct misinformation whenever possible and backup our claims to have the true answers by proving our stand by God's Word.

Maybe you should go read the King Follet discourse from which this idea is derived. And what I find most amazing about this discourse is how much Joseph Smith relied on the bible in developing his thoughts.

Jesus taught in the New Testament (John 5:19) "Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise." Jesus was once a child and a mortal.

How do you know he wasn't? Jesus was a child and mortal, why not his father? The offspring of fish are other fish. The offspring of horses are horses. The offspring of God are mankind.

The opposite claim could be made. The creed of the Trinity denies that Jesus is really, physically, the Son of God. How dare Trinitarians claim to be Christian, when they deny the most fundamental belief of Christianity.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is Christian because it is the Church which Jesus Christ has restored to the Earth through His prophet Joseph Smith.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has the true and Authorized Priesthood of God, which has been restored from God.

I would ask...what right does ANY other Church have to claim to be Christian - When NONE of them have the true and authorized Priesthood of God...and thus none of the other Churches can even perform a single ordinance of salvation...?

Open the dictionary are read the definition of Christian, you will find the answer to your question.

Honestly, I find it more appealing than what protistants believe. At least it gives humanity a connection to God in some way, and gives us equality to God.
