Somebody hasn't been paying attention in math class...
That is said f of g of 3 and it is essentially plugging 3 into the g(x) function then plugging that answer into the f(x) function. (fg)(3) is when you multiply the f(x) function and the g(x) function to get a bigger function then plug 3 into that function.
