The problem is two-fold (even though it's not really a problem) as I see it. The first statement is anthrocentric (not anthropocentric... big difference) and ignores the fact the humans are just a single link in the chain of ALL life on Earth. The second is nationalistic, true... it is a means of self-identifying, but nationalism is up there with religion as one of mans greatest mistakes.
We need a new term that defines we humans and all of the other myriad of life as a single entity... cause that's what "we" are.
Plus... we're all in the same "boat", if you catch my drift.
They are not "problematic" statements.... but they are limiting.
Aside from the fact that it is saying if you are not American you aren't human? Nothing at all. It's great if you ignore that minor but blatantly obvious reason.

The problem with that statement is the fact that it's not true.
Unless you say it in a room where you KNOW everyone is an American.

I see nothing problematic about the statement. They are just letting the world know that Americans are human too.

Seriously you couldn't get that yourself?
Well not all humans are Americans
Um, aside from the fact that not all humans are Americans?
