God created a perfect world in the beginning...the original sin of Adam and Eve caused the world to change...we now live in a sinful, corrupt world until the return of Jesus. After the final judgement, God will set up a new heaven and a new earth. 2 Peter 3:13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. Revelation 21:11 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. Isaiah 65:17 For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind. Isaiah 66:22 For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain.
NOT ONLY IS GOD concerned with the earth as to purpose but also the entire universe:
(Genesis 2:3-4) “. . .And God proceeded to bless the seventh day and make it sacred, because on it he has been resting from all his work that God has created for the PURPOSE of making.
4 This is a history of the heavens and the earth in the time of their being created, in the day that Jehovah God made earth and heaven.”
(Isaiah 45:18) “18 For this is what Jehovah has said, the Creator of the heavens, He the [true] God, the Former of the earth and the Maker of it, He the One who firmly established it, who did not create it simply for nothing, who formed it even to be inhabited: . . .”
JESUS PROMISED a paradise earth:
"........thy kingdom come thy will done on earth as it is in heaven........"Matthew. 6:9.
When Adam and Eve were created where did God put them? In a beautiful garden
What did he tell them to do? To watch over and take care of the animals, and to have children, so as to fill the earth and make the entire earth a wonderful park, where they could live forever.. This is God's purpose for the earth, and his mind has not changed, that is what will happen after Armageddon
If you want to go with the biblical reason, it's apparently so that man can till the soil (Gen 2:5)
If you want to go with human reason and intellect - there is yet evidence to be presented to show that the biblical god or any other god for that matter exist, ergo his purpose for the earth is irrelevant.
Now this is my take on it:
A purpose could be a relative concept - to humans, chairs have a purpose, to provide them with seat. To fish, as far as they are concerned, chairs have no purpose. So because we humans built the chair, its shape and form is by design "serving us", whether the chair likes/knows it or not. Chairs are our servant by design.
Now as far as us humans are concerned, I would think (my opinion) that the purpose of Earth is a habitat for all its life forms including ourselves, a platform on which evolution constantly takes place on very unnoticeable scale and yet spanning thousands and thousands of years.
Like the example of the chair, it could be that earth is by design serving some grander purpose to whatever "designed" it but that's yet to be proven, going back to my "no evidence for god" argument.
I believe there's no "original" purpose for anything. History is planned and controled by God, so if he will destroy this actual earth and make a new one, deep inside he planned it from the beginning and permitted somethings to happen so he could make it work.

i think the main purpose for the Earth is for God's own personal shits followed by some giggles

To adopt sons and daughters to be rulers over the nations and (on this planet) to renew the earth and make us a part of his plan.
Change?
Yes and no.
He doesn't sit in one place all the time. He changes, He moves around.
Does he become evil? No, He doesn't change in that way.

Yes God changes from religion to religion, person to person, or just over time within a religion or a person.
