A serviceman has to fill out a form (don't remember which) designating how much of his pay goes to his family if he should be declared MIA. It could be from 0% to 100%. That would be in affect until he was released or declared KIA. As long as he is considered MIA, he is still on active duty. It was on the insurance form he had to fill out (just remembered).
really depends on how long they are listed as MIA and what other circumstances there are. they can live in Base housing for up to a year or until they are declared KIA. Pay generally ends within 12 months as well..
