google search says ---- department, faculty, part, volume etc.
é¨:
Short for é¨ä½ = "a part of the body"
or
Short for é¨ä»½ = "part, segment, section"
Other meanings derived by also adding other characters:
é¨é = department, division, etc...
é¨è½ = tribe
é¨è½æ ¼ = weblog AKA blog
"....the symbol é¨ near the radicals...."
é¨é¦ = a part of the head / body, literally. It is now used as a Chinese translation of "radicals" of the Chinese language, especially from English, where the word "radical" is from Latin radix meaning "root", it's logical to call it that: é¨é¦ are the basic part of a character which is where today you might or might not get the meaning or phonology from, due to changes in phonology via inter-loans from different dialects during the 4 millennia of Chinese dynastic rule.
"radical" is known as “åæ" or "é¨é¦” in Chinese, which can be shortened to "æ" and "é¨" respectively. The latter, being more formal than the first one, is used almost exclusively in the context of dictionary and I have never seen it used in a conversation.
In short, Xé¨ = radical X (formal expression)
Hope it helps
it is "bu" it means a part, section. Some examples: nan bu åé¨ nan south and bu = the southern part. é¨å bu fen again means a part a sectionã é¨é¦ bu shou means the radicals by which characters are arranged in a traditional Chinese dictionary
