Being rich in Ethiopia is like being super poor in the rest of the world?

Well I googled Ethiop and didn't come up with a person. . .from the Free Dictionary online:

n. 1. A native or inhabitant of Ethiopia; also, in a general sense, a ***** or black man.

I really disagree with the first answer. I think there is great mining of gems in Africa. . .we've all heard of the blood diamonds. . .but I'm thinking of a magnificent black man with a huge shiny gem in his ear. It is an old term so it doesn't refer to the poverty in Africa today. I just keep thinking about the very old King Solomen's Mines (movie, 40's or 50's with Stewart Granger) where they search for the lady's husband who has gone off in search of treasure in the unknown part of Africa and not returned. They know they are in the right place after great travel when they see the large gem in the ruler's headdress.

It means the person is a self indulgent jackass trying to sound well read.
