I have to answer it for my spanish homework but, I can't find anything in the book really relating to the format of this question.
Update:Just like this: ¿Cómo es la casa de su familia?
Interestingly enough, there aren't any lessons in this chapter describing a house. It talks more about relatives, than anything.

Su Familia Translation
Hi friend =) Yes there are many mistakes, I corrected them here the letter: Quise escribir esta carta para agradecerle por ser siempre tan buena conmigo. Some parts I didnt understand what you meant, but i guess you wanted to mean what I wrote. Hope I helped!
Like what so many people have said, it means something like what does you family's house look like? I love Spanish and I wish I could continue it.
the house where my family lives
How are things at home? Como (how) casa su familia (house of your family).
"How is the house of your family?"
I believe it's asking for a description... like, "What does your house look like?"
It can be:
How is your family's house? if they are using the pronoun "usted" which means "you" in a polite way.
Or it can be translated : How is his/her family's house? if they are using the third person
How does it look like?
"Where is the house of your family?"
