Hello all! I'm not pregnant and this is just all hypothetical!
I'm watching stuff about ancient Egypt on TV, because of this marathon I guess. And they were talking about Cleopatra and her family. Including her half-sister Arsinoë. I have always loved ancient Egypt, since I was a child my friend and I were obsessed and I think it's a beautiful name but I'm not sure if it's a bit too out there, you know?
Would someone know how to pronounce it when they read it?
It's pronounced Ar-sin-o-way.
I think it's pretty. But I think maybe a bit too iffy to name my daughter. (Again, not pregnant!) That's just my opinion.
What about you? What do you think of Arsinoë? Would you use it on your daughter, first name or middle name? Any other ancient names you like?
:)

I LOVE ANCIENT NAMES! When you have a daughter you should totally name her Arsinoe because it is so beautiful and unique. Everyone will remember you better if you have a unique and beautiful name. I have thought about naming my son (if I ever have one) Achilles ;) I love the story of the war hero!
You should totally go for it! It beats normal names like Catherine and Brittaney :)
I love it!! It's so funny that I found this question because I'm pregnant and we haven't found out what we're having yet.. But I'm thinking it's a girl.. We already have two boys. I'm thinking of naming our daughter if it is a girl Cairo Arsinoe (I don't know how to double dot the e from my phone)..
First off it is very pretty!! I love ancient names, especially from Greece or Rome. I could pronounce it right, but the average person probably couldn't. Depending on the heritage of my husband I might use it as a middle name.
The way you're suggesting it's pronounced does actually make it sound quite pretty, but I'm afraid it still reminds me of a rude word that I'm not going to post. So for that reason I'd stay away from it!
it's a good name. but w/ me being an ameture rockstar, id name my future baby girl sumthing lyk Bandit (my stagename's Band!t), Helena, or Maralyn.
Arsinoe I
I guess it's okay. I wouldn't choose it though.
