Catholic missionaries generally don't just take "trips." They actually move into the communities and do whatever they can to serve. I know of a Catholic missionary who has lived in Haiti for 17 years. He provides food, cement blocks for building shelters, a school, clothing and more. He buys crops at a higher price than market value and then gives the food away. He has clean water piped down the mountain from an artesian well. He recruited a doctor to come visit every now and again. And on top of all of that, he brings Jesus to the people.
Some folks go to visit his mission from time to time, bringing and distributing supplies. Is that what you mean about a mission "trip"?
We feed the hungry, clothe the poor, house the homeless, heal the sick, and educate the children. We spread the Word of God and His Gospel to the world as He gave us commission to do. God bless!
