im going to be down right honest... thisis my final question to my online speedback thing :P and im pretty sure wiht most of my answers but please help me.
A.Whitman’s own childhood was one of transition and growth.
B.Children, symbolic of human conscience, are impressionable and can become many things.
C.Children are capable of many things in their transitional lives.
D.Children are able to overcome their environments and parents’ shortcomings to become whoever they want to become.
I think it's "D" but please help

It's not D. because when you look at the line in context, it seems to be the opposite of that. Whitman speaks of all of the things children see and experience, and how all of those things become a part of who they are. The whole idea of the poem is that children and their identities are shaped by the world around them. They take everything in.
The best possible answer would be B.
