I’ve been really confused lately about taraweeh namaz what are the exact rakats, like sunnah fard naf’l? I’m very confused this is my first time fasting for real. Please help me.
Taraweeh prayers are to be prayed right after Isha prayer. So basically, you pray the four rakaats of Isha prayer, and the Sunnah is to prayer eight more rakaats after that (each two rakaats seperately, so its four sets of two rakaats). Some poeple do more and some people do less, but the Sunnah for taraweeh is to pray eight to twenty rakaats.
Since this will be your first time, maybe you can go to the nearest masjed (if thats possible where you live) so that you can follow the Imaam and see how he carries out the prayers. Usually you will pray Isha, then two rakaat, then another two rakaat, then he will give a short talk about religion, then he will continue with taraweeh with two rakaat, and another two rakaat. After that he will pray another two rakaat as Shafaa prayers, and one rakaa as Witr prayer. And thats it! So you have Isha prayer (4 rakaat), Taraweeh prayers (8 rakaat), Shafaa Prayer (2 rakaat), and Witr prayer (1 rakaa).
It may seem like a lot to begin with but you will get the hang of it and feel a closer bond with Allah. I believe most scholars agree that Taraweeh prayers are Sunnah rather than Fard, but that should make it an encouragement for everyone to pray them like Muhammad (saws). There are tonsss of hasanat (rewards) and mercy on the person for praying these in Ramadan inshallah. Wish you the best in this month and may Allah guide us all! :)
I'm guessing by 'namaz' you mean 'prayer'. Okay, well there are diffent amounts of Rakah's for different Schools of Thought. But I think the most authentic one is after prayer Esha you pray two rakahs 4 times. Which means 8 rakaats altogether in 2 by 2's. And then you pray witr 2 rakats and then 1.
