I have had my miata for a little over 6 months and its time for new tires so I figured I might as well get new rims. I’ve been looking every were and I found the ENKEI J10 rims that look appealing to me but they are only 6.5" wide and i atleast want 7" wide.

If you're looking for good performance you need light wheels to reduce unsprung weight and emphasise the handling performance that the tyres are going to give you. Racing-style wheels like that from Enkei, 5Zigen and Racing Hart are your best bet. From there you just need to find the right wheels that fit the size and look that you want. Remember though that while larger wheel sizes will look "better", lower profile tyres to suit will become more expensive, and the wheels will be heavier as well. For the Miata, go for 15-17"x7". The new tyres won't be overly expensive and the wheels will be nice and light as well.
Check out the 6UL from 949Racing (www.949Racing.com). They're 15" (for the best selection of high performance tires), wider than most in order to spread the tire out on the pavement which gives you the best response and grip. The 15x8 version (which will work with 195/50, 205/50 and 225/45 tire sizes) is a little over 12 pounds.
Try smaller rims and tires for better performance. The heavier the tire & rim combination, and the larger the outside diameter of the tire, the more impact it will have on your acceleration.
