Let’s be real here; Americans do want our gov’t regulating weapons.
We oppose open access to nuclear weapons, canons, shoulder-held
missile launchers, hand grenades or explosives.
So what advocates of the ‘right to bear arms’ really want is the
‘right to bear certain arms’.
In effect, weapons advocates want to be regulators themselves.
They use patriotic slogans like support of the second amendment
to disguise that they really want to be regulators.
But unless you want to live off-the-grid you must accept that you have
gov’t officials who are elected to regulate. If you wish to influence them
that’s fine but don’t disguise your motives as an act of patriotism.
You just want to be a player in a big game.
Your desire to own weapons is not patriotic; it is simply a matter of
self-interest like anything else that you want.

Start with the question.....Why did the founding father decide having a weapon (armed militia) was so important it is the second amendment?
Logically because they want the citizens to be able to protect the nation from its enemies both foreign and domestic
I was never about hunting.....or even self protection.....it was about protecting the nation
Logically then the citizen should be allowed to own and maintain weapons commiserate with that mission..... if the enemies have better weapons......such as assault rifles.... then the American citizen is at a disadvantage..... banning assault rifles does not solve the problem of gun violence..... it only puts them in the hands of nut jobs and other enemies
If banning any gun was a solution....then cities such as New York would have the least gun violence....they have STRONG anti-gun laws.....but unfortunately New York has one of our nations highest rates for gun violence.....thus proving banning is NOT the answer

New York may have the lowest homicide rate in 20 years....but it is still listed by the National Crime Statistics as a major gun crime city....YOU LINK IS FOR THE ENTIRE STATE NOT JUST THE CITY...... BUT leave New York out of the equation my point is still valid.... cities with the strictest gun laws have significantly more gun violence than areas in the nation with gun carry permits
Your point about the nation having a military seems fine until you realize the military could be the domestic enemy....who will counter them..... the founding fathers wanted the free citizens to have the ability to protect the nation....do the research

I believe that the "right to bare arms" has been interpreted several different ways. I believe that people should have access to guns(for self defense and such,)but I see absolutely no reason why an ordinary citizen would need an assault riffle. A mild regulation that stops phsycopaths from getting guns legally might be great as well, but I don't delve into such things.
The US has many firearms regulations. Since you are a conservative, you are ignorant that they are identified as 49 CFR, and are available online. It is appalling the number of conservatives who view violence against children to be acceptable, humorous, and believe that nothing should be done.
