- a tight-knit, inclusive community of like-minded people.
- the potential for good works and charity, motivated by your religious faith.
- the opportunity to advance on your spiritual path, and grow in your relationship with God.
- being able to learn more about your religion, holy books and practices, through religious services.
- sharing a common mindset + framework of reality with your fellow believers. (..As opposed to irreligious spiritual people like myself, who are usually surrounded by people who do NOT in any sense share our reality.)
Cons (in the case of religion done wrong):
- bigotry, hatred and unacceptance of others.
- being made to follow lots of severely limiting, mind-constrictive dogma.
- being unable to act freely, and pursue certain lines of thought, because they're "sinful".
- seeing God as a raging tyrant, and being deadly scared of punishment + condemnation.
- a nasty case of "us vs. them" mentality + living in a self-reinforcing echo chamber.
- the possibility of indoctrination, and adopting a thoroughly myopic perspective of the world.
- the feeling of being an evil, wretched sinner, who could never possibly be good enough.
- being emotionally blackmailed into giving lots of money to the church.

Pro: You don't have to understand it to hate people. Just pretend you know what it says.
Con: Lots of "coors lite fueled problems at home" when atheists prove they know more about it than you do.
Pro's, people of your religion will trust you with their children, their wives, and maybe even their car.
Con's, people who are not part of your religion will think you deserve to rot in hell unless you change your mind.

Truth vs. untruth
They inspire you to do heroically good deeds. They inspire you to do despicably inhumane deeds.
Depends on the health status of your soul and those souls of your companions in religion, eh.
