Previously this is something I never cared to know but recently it has been important to me to understand what religion I would fall under. I have done some research on my own but have to admit that I am more than an idiot when it comes to religion and faith. Now, I do believe in a higher power, currently God, but I do not believe in the rituals, beliefs and practices of and currently religion that I know of. I am not much for the bible or the words of preachers, since I believe that man, in general, or complete idiots and have completely tainted any words or actions left by god for man. I also have the belief that if God is truly an omnipotent being than how could he ever really care for something so insignificant as mankind and the decisions we make (i.e. ants compared to the any human) and also believe that all the discrimination based on race or sexual preference is completely at fault. Sorry to got into so much detail but It’s something that I’ve been wondering and all my friends say atheist, which is fine but I know not to be me.

Your words come across as those of a deist. My friend describes himself as an agnostic deist, believing something sentient set the universe in motion, but he admits he does not know what. So it's up to us to look at the how.
Having a faith or religion is not important. It's your personal relationship with God that you need to focus on. Many people around the world, myself included, don't practice a religion. But we do believe in God and focus on maintaining a good relationship with the Almighty.
Now that you've come to the conclusion that there's a "higher power" (God) on your own, my advice to you is to read the Quran with an open mind, unbiased by media's portrait of Islam, and unaffected by what you dislike in some Muslims' behavior, and see if it gives you some answers.
you dont have to be religious to be spiritual. being an athiest gives you the freedom to learn about all the different gods (and there are thousands) and all kinds of beliefs from around the world. you'll find they all have a few common denominators. you dont need a church. jesus said "beware of the deceiver who says lo' there, lo' there, for god is within." seek the god of gods, or the 'creator'.
Well believe in God,Jesus,Holy Spirit.Jesus Died on the cross for my sins/worlds sins.And donate time or money to charity.That's whats going to get you there ,not going to church ect.People base to much on what religion you are.it's a relationship with God not what faith you are !
