The article
talks about how congress keeps pressuring to end the war but Bush stated “Today, a new
generation of Americans has stepped forward and volunteered to defend the ideals of our
nation’s founding…They’ve helped bring freedom to the Iraqi people”. “They’ve helped
make Americans more secure. We will not forget their sacrifice.”
I felt this article was good because I’m tired of people saying that this war is
pointless and we are loosing too many troops (about 3000 in 4 years). So I want to
include an email that was sent to me that strengthened my stand for our troops and why
this war is not as bad as most say.
Things that make you think a little:
There were 39 combat related killings in Iraq in January.
In the fair city of Detroit there were 35 murders in the
month of January. That's just one American city,
about as deadly as the entire war-torn country of Iraq .
When some claim that President Bush shouldn't
have started this war, state the

The Democrats are complaining
about how long the war is taking.
But
It took less time to take Iraq than it took Janet Reno
to take the Branch Davidian compound.
That was a 51-day operation..
We've been looking for evidence for chemical weapons
in Iraq for less time than it took Hillary Clinton to find
the Rose Law Firm billing records.
It took less time for the 3rd Infantry Division and the
Marines to destroy the Medina Republican Guard
than it took Ted Kennedy to call the police after his
Oldsmobile sank at Chappaquiddick.
It took less time to take Iraq than it took
to count the votes in Florida !!!!
Our Commander-In-Chief is doing a GREAT JOB!
The Military morale is high!
The biased media hopes we are too ignorant
to realize the facts
But Wait .
There's more!

Thank you for putting it in perspective Ms. Darwin. Keep up the good work! I agree.
We should pull out of Detroit and New Orleans as well, where the death rate is up 50% in the last year.
Or we should continue our fight against Al-Qaeda!
First I agree with you 99.999%, The Vietnam War started
as a military advisement in 1959 under Eisenhower and
escalated to war under Kennedy/Johnson
Secondly a NOTE to Introduction:
700,000 Iraqi's this is about 10 times higher than any
information I was able to find, but for the record during WWII
10,000,000 Soviets
3,500,000 Germans
1,500,000 Japanese
280,000 British
405,399 American's
President Bush is doing a fantastic job and I admire his
will and for not backing down to the liberal left. The true
fact is that there are more people murdered each day
in the US than in the Iraq war, there are more babies
killed each DAY by abortion than there are in the total
Iraq war, in fact there have been more babies killed
in the US by abortion since 1973 than in all of those
killed (including enemy and civilian) than all of the wars
the US has been in since history.
Look up your statistics on how many Iraqi civilian die every DAY compared to the amount of our troops, and even "our TARGETS"!! Still, Troop morale is most certainly NOT high, cocky as ever and how they are "trained" to be...I was going to join the US Marines, and I have many friends and family in the military, some serving in 3-4 "tours" in Iraq. And guess what, our troops that want to leave are forced to stay over there longer, and are not allowed to leave the military for longer periods.
Check your facts please, we really need people as loyal as you to fight for peace and justice. The world does not need more hatred and violence, but peace needs to be learned. All the best to you...open your eyes to the world outside of your life, and maybe, you can imagine yourself being in the shoes of any Iraqi citizen...
Bush is full of poo. Iraq was none of our business. We have no business builidng empires.
And by the way, "at least 1,227 Iraqi civilians were killed in June, along with 190 policemen and 31 soldiers, an officer at the Iraqi Interior Ministry's operations room said. The officer spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to release the figures."
Is their ever a war that no one died???? last time i check washington was a general of the continental army before he became president so he is partially right. To ask you a fair question for those 3000 troops that gave up their life no one put a gun on their head to sign that paper. They all know what they are heading too. No ones wants to see someone die but its part of the job. It maybe a mistake entering the war but its too late to debate on that. The debate now is how to slow down that civil war in iraq so that those guys can come home soon.
