There's a mango tree in the frontyard and a lot of birds and two squirrels live in that tree. I feed them everyday.
Few weeks ago I spotted a stray cat hanging around the tree. I don't wanna hurt it so I shouted and it went away. Now it has started to climb the tree. I know squirrels are fast but few days ago this cat almost caught a squirrel. I shouted and it went away again.
This cat is giving me nightmares. I'm worried it might eat a squirrel. Even the birds are scared

Long time ago I put a bird feeder in a tree and the birds loved it and they made an absolute mess with the seeds on the ground and birds would eat the seeds that fell on the ground too. Then I started seein a couple of cats in the neighborhood haning around not to far from the area and stalking the birds........so because I didn't want to start seeing dead or injured birds out there I stopped feeding them I WOULD STOP FEEDING THEM SEE IF THE CAT(S) LOOSE INTEREST I WAS THINKING MAYBE YOU COULD PUT SOMETHING AROUND THE TREE THAT WOULD DETER THE CAT(S) BUT THEN YOU DON'T WANT TO DETER THE SQUIRRELS EITHER CAUSE THOSE SQUIRRELS MAY HAVE BABIES UP IN THERE NESTS IF THEY HAVE NESTS UP THERE. HERES ANOTHER THOUGHT TRY CALLING A VETERANIARIAN THERE ARE PROBABLY LOTS OF THEM LISTED IN THE PHONE BOOK AND JUST KEEP CALLING TILL YOU GET A LONG LIST WHAT YOUR ASKING THE VETS IS DO THEY KNOW ANY WILD LIFE REHABILITATORS (THESE ARE PEOPLE WHO TAKE IN WILD ANIMALS SUCH AS BIRDS SQUIRRELS RABBITS RACOONS DEER ECT. THAT HAVE BEEN INJURED OR HURT AND THEY MAKE THEM WELL AGAIN. THEY MIGHT HAVE A SOLUTION TO YOUR PROBLEM ABOUT KEEPING THOSE CATS OUT OF THAT TREE. BUT THE FIRST THING I WOULD DO IS STOP GIVING THE BIRDS/SQUIRRELS FOOD AND ONE MORE THING I JUST THOUGH ABOUT....YOU SAY YOU YELL AT THE STRAY AND IT RUNS AWAY.....DO YOU HAVE A REGULAR GARDEN HOSE IN THE AREA THAT HAS A NICE SPRAYER ON IT THAT CAN GO PRETTY FAR WHEN YOU SPRAY IT...WELL IF YOU CAN REALLY SPRAY THIS CAT WITH WATER A FEW GOOD TIMES IT MIGHT JUST DISCOURAGE IT FROM COMMING AROUND AS WELL OTHERWISE I HAVEN'T GOT A CLUE BUT THE FOOD HAS GOT TO GO NOW
Nature...it's natural circle ..is natural, do understand..just as your natural cycles, instincts of survival..are yours...
The cat means no harm..its reacting to those natural cycles in survival..just as all in Nature do..& will..
Is the cat feral..hungry ? ...or a neighbors pet ?... or lost ?.. If feral, you may need to trap him/her humanely..perhaps care enough to tame..or find a decent & loving home for them..as many including myself have done through time..lost,the same needs to be done, the owner or a home found for them..a
neighbors cat..you need to go and politely speak to the individual..work through finding a peaceful and
happy solution.
Does not need to be a nightmare..unless you, turn it into one..and,trust that solves nothing. As well as
you seek the best solution here..there are things natural you can put in your garden to repel..not harm
check your local pet stores for them. ~*
P.s. Many times the cat & the squirrels are just playing..people mistake natures mind set..for the worst
and..its not the case at all..the squirrel is much faster and likes enticing the cat in the play..its not a worry at all..leave them alone. .Friend of mine..his cat has two squirrel friends ..they come to his yard..and his cat & the squirrels run and chase each other..it's funny ..they enjoy it..with harm to none.~*
I wouldn't worry about it dear. Squirrels are much to wary and fast for a cat to catch them and if it did, then more power to the cat.
Well at the end of the day it is nature, Nina,So I don't think you can really,
ps,May I thank you for the BA too.
feed the cat your table scraps and it wont bother the squirrels
Let nature take its course.
Life is not always how you would like it to be.
Feral /stray cats have to eat and do so the only way they know how.
Maybe as you obviously like feeding wild animals and birds, you could leave some food out for the hungry cat? Jmo.
I honestly don't think you can do much. Even if you do manage to stop this cat from predating on the squirrels, millions of the exact same situation would be happening elsewhere too. It's just how nature works; someone be the predator and someone be the prey.
Now time to get that steak for dinner. :O
Eat it
The cat would come off the worst as squirrels are quite vicious little beasts . Maybe you could put some wire netting around the bottom couple of feet to deter the cat .
Let it do so. What do you think feral cats live on?
