All right, so lately I´ve been doubting a lot of the famous quotes my teachers used to feed me back in prep and junior high. (I´ve been asked to give a speech to some younger kids, and I was looking back on quotes my teachers used to tell me and this one was the one they repeted the most, got me thinking)

Im going to make the example of my best friend and I.

I know someone is going to say/think, "Oh but it only starts showing after a long time!"

Well we´ve known each other for 8 years, and have been best friends 6 of them.

I disagree that friends do not reflect who other people are.

They do infulence, that I agree with 100%

But the phrase itself (on a very shallow level) doesn´t aply to such cases. (in my POV at least)

She´s a high school drop out who: smokes, drinks, is a stipper, and does drugs

Im a medical student who hasn´t smoked, drunk or any of the like.

Do you think it´s a true statement?

Do you have a situation similar to mine where you and your friends are super different but if someone met them, they probably wouldn´t even get one thing about your personality right?

What are some phrases I could give as advice to younger kids? (it´s about enviroment and friendhips, that´s why)
