The sanctions would be placed on trade. Not on nuclear weapons.
And, if those sanctions are unilateral, then it won't have much of an impact because US-Iranian trade has never been normalized after the Revolution in 1979.
I sincerely wish people would learn some basics on these issues. We are not placing sanctions on nuclear weapons, in fact the nonproliferation treaty already blocks the sale of nuclear weapons. The Iran sanctions are economic sanctions that presumably will cause economic pain to Iran to get them to abandon their nuclear weapons program.
Of course the irony is the Iran nuclear deal appears to have forced them to abandon their nuclear weapons program. It was working, but now the restrictions outlined by the deal no longer apply. Iran is now able to reopen their nuclear facilities, begin enriching weapons grade uranium and continue to develop their missile programs. Pulling out did not make the US safer, but it felt good for Trump because he likes to tear down Obama's legacy, even if it hurts the country.
John Bolton wants to pull out of the deal because he is a neocon that wants us to attack Iran to effect regime change, which is what we did in the 1950s which eventually lead to the Islamic Revolution and the current crisis.

well if you are a jew living in israel you will have to start thinking about how to deal with nuclear weapons being aimed at you..
Now there is a question that should have been asked before the treaty was initiated.

The crazy thing is we already have the Geneva convention banning nuclear weapons
Same thing we are looking at in North Korea.
So, because of Obama and Kerry's incompetence, now we are stuck bending over for Iran?
Don't think so.
We will show them what we know about turning Sand into Glass.
You can't place sanctions on nuclear weapons. That's kinda fruitless.
Nothing. C'mon be realist, nothing is going to happen anytime soon.
