There are liberal Republicans and conservative Democrats, and even the terms themselves can get mixed up. For example, people tend to view Republicans as conservative, and conservativism is about less government involvement in the lives of its citizens, and yet, Republicans are against gay marriage, thus growing the government and its role. Is that liberal or conservative?
