I was holding a girls hand a couple months ago and now I have a girlfriend(not the same one) and I love my girlfriend but I still have feelings for the other girl. I think deep down he does still care about you but it varies how the guy liked you, for example I like the other girl a lot but if he didn't like you a lot then he might not care about you any more. If the last time he held your hand was a FEW MONTHs ago, then you need to believe him. If he were doing it maybe yesterday or a week ago, then that's different.
