Pokémon tcg special energy help?
I want to pull a special energy from my discard pile or deck, but all cards say that they can only do basic energies. Do special energies count as trainers since their effects are a lot like a trainers or does it have to specifically say "special energy." I took a very long break from pokémon trading cards and I never learned how to play. Thanks!

In the newer series a card must say "special energy" but in the series such as ruby and sapphire you could count them as trainers. As of current rules, and current card, they must say Special Energy. I have been playing for a long time, but haven't even seen any cards since generation 4 (diamond and pearl) that say "draw special energy. I would recommend using a deck with multiples of one special energies.
