Byting back’ is a head of a book from Rand, the subhead is ‘Regaining Information Superiority Against 21st-Century Insurgents’. The content in this book is about how to get information for counterinsurgency and never talked about how to protect the information against insurgents. Somebody told me that ‘byting back’ meant biting back. Who can tell me if it is right? If not right, please tell me what exactly the meaning of ‘byting back’is.
Thanks a lot.

My educated guess is that "byting" is a play on words. Byting back has the same meaning of the phrase biting back, but byte is a computer term, so it's a clever twist.
