If Mary Magdalene was married to Jesus, why was she far off from the cross? The following verses state so:
Matthew 27:55-56 – “And many women were there beholding afar off, which followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering unto Him: Among which was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of Zebedee’s children.
Mark 15:40-41 – There were also women looking on afar off: among whom was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the less and of Joses, and Salome; (Who also, when he was in Galilee, followed him, and ministered unto him;) and many other women which came up with him unto Jerusalem.
Luke 23:49 – And all his acquaintance, and the women that followed him from Galilee, stood afar off, beholding these things.
Update:To joseph – In both Matthew 27:55-56 and Mark 15:40-41 you cited, where was Mary, the mother of Jesus? She was near the cross, as a close relative, whereas Mary Magdalene was looking at a distance.
What is the significance of knowing this to the Christian faith? This is to explore whether there is really truth in speculations and innuendoes that Jesus and Mary Magdalene were really married so that we can make our own conclusion. Dan Brown’s allegation is an example. We have to know the truth and discard falsehood that poisons our minds.
Was Mary, the mother of Jesus, present when the tomb was discovered empty? Where was she?

As for the "facts" that were put forward in the DaVinci Code, let's not forget, that right off the bat, he gets the date of the Dead Sea Scroll discovery wrong. And then his scholarship never recovers.
Why am I alluding to the book? Because if he was, that would leave all Christianity a hoax, and that there would have had to be a religious war between the two camps, with one nearly exterminating the other. And I don't see history telling us about that. I see a lot of historical reference to the Council of Nicea, Constatine and more...but nothing about one group wiping out the other.
Also, for the "let's keep Jesus single and not married" conspiracy theory...how is it each one was willing to die. Not only willing to die for what they believed, but willing to die for something they knew to be a lie.
We see people on TV who are more than willing to die for something they believe in. But we haven't ever seen someone be willing to die to keep a lie from being exposed.
I do not understand why religious Christians and orthodoxes do not believe that Magdalene was married to Jesus. Do you think marriage lessens the importance and grace of Jesus?
No. Marriage is not a sin. Even those times also it was not a sin. Jesus was a COMPLETE MAN AND COMPLETE GOD. If felt hunger, pain, he also needed a wife. And if he married Magdalene he committed no sin.
Now why was she standing far off?. Young women those days were not so confident, free and bold. They were made to be shy. She was awfully perplexed with a confused mind. On the other hand their marriage was a secret and had she come closer, the secrecy would have opened.
It has been scientifically proved that they were married to each other. Science has proved it which is a boon from above.
The clues that may lead to believe that Mary Magdalene certainly had a very privileged position among the feminine followers of Jesus are the following:
1. Mary Magdalene is mentioned even before Mary, the mother of Jesus in both quoted passages Matt 27:55-56 and Mark 15:40-41.
2. The resurrected Jesus appears first to her as mentioned in John 20:11-18, before appearing to any of the other disciples.
3. She is mentioned as being the companion of Jesus in both the apocryphal Gospels of Philip and of Miriam of Magdala.

Why does it count? It would not substitute something. there is not any "information." in simple terms fairly some words. Mary Magdalene grow to be married. yet to no longer Jesus. She lived out her life in a hermit's cave and there is now a brilliant basilica there, the place her keeps to be relax. good judgment has no longer something to do with it. The Gnostic writings make no sense. The "Gospel of Thomas" claims Jesus grow to be going to teach Mary Magdalene right into a many so she could desire to pass to heaven. because of the fact in accordance to that "gospel" purely adult men get to heaven.
They were afar off because the big bad Roman soldiers wouldn't allow them to come near and try to save the ones (3) being crucified. Once their work was done and they left except for a small patrol of guards.
If Jesus had married it would have been recorded. God is too picky about marriage to have allowed it to be done anyway but the Jewish way at that time.
There is too much about Jesus in the history of Israel and Rome and other countries for His marriage to go unreported.
The Romans had lists of His followers why wouldn't His wife have been listed as well as say Peter?
Jesus led a perfect life dedicated to God and that didn't include girlfriends or wives.

The Jewish and cultural traditions of the day make it highly improbable that Christ was not married. However, as we have no evidence or documentation in any form whatsoever as to the marital status of Jesus, or to whom he may have been betrothed, the answer to the question is lost in history.
AND REMEMBER: "The DaVinci Code" was, by the admission of the author, a work of fiction and was not intended to be anything else except that.
Also remember that when the Bible was written, women were not important in that society and culture, so they therefore were not mentioned. Did he have sisters? Did he have a cocker spaniel following him around? Did he have pimples? These types of "details" were not important to the authors or the historians of the day.
So, we don't know if he was married at all, and if he was we don't know to whom, and we probably never will.
Jesus was never married except in the minds of a few silly people like Dan Brown that try to link the Royal Families of Europe to the mythical child of Jesus and Mary. This was first conceived to try and discredit the Roman Catholic Church in its Political grab to control all Europe. And out of this myth came the Knights Templar a group that started in obscurity, is shrouded in mystery, and claims secret knowledge.
The reports on these things are so remote and questionable as to render then useless for any meaningful attempt to understand what was going on with the people around Jesus at that time. It was a field day for invention for later writers and is a field day now for the endless speculation of willing followers of this mythology.
Jesus was never married.
They waited from afar off until the cross was standing in the ground, and then they were allowed to approach. That's one possibility, though it doesn't quite fit the chronology of events.
And of the four Gospel writers, John was the only one who was present at the crucifixion, so I would give more credence to his account when judging the events of that day.

And they had a kid, after Jesus died, named "Sarah".
