What do you think of my #2 girl's combo?
Mary Alice Coppélia "Mary Alice"
I was dead set on Alice for my second daughter, but recently I have fallen in love with Mary Alice as a double first name. And no, I will not hyphen it. I find hyphens to be pointless and unnecessary. My grandmother was Billie Jean, no hyphens. Everyone in town knew her as Billie Jean, not just Billie. Same with a few friends of hers who had double barrel firsts, no hyphens.
Update:Ya, I'm sure that there will be people that calls her just Mary or just Alice, but I'll make sure that ALL family members call her Mary Alice. Which I don't see as a problem. They were use to my grandmother having a double barrel first name.

Mary Alice is absolutely one of my favorite double-barreled names! Alice by itself is lovely as well, but Mary Alice is like love on a spoon! :D I'm not used to Coppélia, but it sounds pretty the way I'm pronouncing it (Cah-PEH-lee-ah, with the EH sound somewhere between AH and AY). I'd ask if it was legit, but I know you'd never consider a name that wasn't legit ;)
All in all, I just love it to smithereens. Mary Alice is just drop-dead gorgeous and I'd probably actually squeal out loud with delight if I met a little Mary Alice.
I knew a girl named Barbara Jean Del Rico. And Billie Joe Armstrong is also named 'Billie Joe'.
My best friend is named JazmihnAlexis. No hyphen, yet again, no space. My niece is named Brandeelyn, which is a combination of Bandi and Lynn.
Okay, now something about the name Mary. Mary brings on a Catholic feel. If you are Catholic, then that's great. If you believe in God, worship the Bible and everything, that is wonderful. But if 'Mother Mary' is nobody and nothing to you, naming your daughter that may lead people to believe you were heavily influenced by the Bible.
I'm not saying anything is wrong with that, but I am stating my opinion and pointing out some situation.
But, yet again. Mary can be a unique name in the names that are common nowadays.
Nobody names their children Mary, George, Frank, Carol, or Billie Jean anymore. So, though Mary is no where near a newly made and newly popular name, it will bring in an history of the name. You're child wont be the only Mary, but there wont be an overload of Mary's in her school either.
Mary Alice as one whole name may sound good to you, but may not appeal to your daughter later on in life. If I were you, I would keep Mary as the first name, and Alice as the middle name. And just call her Mary Alice altogether. (My name is Megan, and my middle name is Leanne. I'm called Megan Leanne sometimes). (My friend JazmihnAlexis goes by Jazmihn or Alex, never both) (My niece Brandeelyn is NEVER called Brandi and is never called Lyn.) So really, in the end run, it's going to be what the child likes and prefers.
But for you as a parent. You also have the authority to name your child what ever you please.
If you want to name your daughter Mary Alice for one whole first name, then do so.
You conceived the child, you are carrying the child, and you are going to deliver the child. If the name makes you happy, name her whatever your heart desires.
i love it! BUT you'll have to be ok with some people just calling her Mary, or Alice,, People are ignorant, but yes i think this works well, and i too agree NO hyphen! congrats!
for my section, i incredibly like Alice Coppélia Daffodil. Alice and Coppélia strike a cord in me of an exceedingly shy French woman, an exceedingly classic and classic French call, and Daffodil looks to furnish it a freshness and element of modernness.
I think it's lovely. :)
Mary Alice reminds me of my friends daughter, Mary Noelle.
Is Coppelia a middle name? If it is, or even if it's your last name, I think it's very similar to Alice Cooper. I don't like that aspect of it, but Mary Alice is pretty.
