I have been trying to set up a wireless network for my two computers.
I installed an HP HN200W, and right off the bat, my computers (laptop and desktop) had no trouble configuring themselves, they both access the web no problems at all. FYI: I am running windows 7 in both cases.
My situation begins when I attempt to access the Expert Interface on the HP HN200W.
I need to set up the unit to set up the security so others can't hack into my signal. Right now it's open for anyone to tap into
According to the manual...you're supposed to..."type in http://192.168.1.1/ in the address box of your Web browser and press enter."
A dialog box is *supposed* to pop up where you can log into the unit and configure the unit.
This simply is not happening. It will not recognize it as the IP address.
I have Zone Alarm...and when I installed the unit...ZA claims it has found a new network w/ IP address 10.10.0.0
Tried that... absolutely no luck
I've tried tons of IP address doing my best to get access.
Anyone run across this problem?
THANKS FOR YOUR HELP IN ADVANCE

hi tre,
i goggled HN200W and found its a wireless router/Gateway and default ip is 192.168.1.1
User name/Password are admin
In order to check the iP address best way is u will find network connections icon on systray or in control panel
>check for lan/Wlan network connection. Rt click on icon and select properties and select tcpipv4 and again select properties
>u can find the actual ip,snm and def. gateway of ur pc
>so just type the def gateway address in url and also disable zone alarm because mostly it wont allow top access GUI
Your router may not be in the 192.168.1.0 subnet, rather it might be in the 10.10.0.0 subnet.
You could reset the router back to factory defaults (consult its manual for instructions), or you could first try putting 10.10.0.1 into your web browser to see if that might work (long shot).
Also consider turning off ZA until you get everything working, then start locking down again. ZA is probably not helping you at this point, but you have to know for sure what the IP of the router is, and ensure that your computers are on the same subnet.
